What is a text case converter?

A case converter rewrites text into a different casing convention: the everyday ones (UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case) and the programmer ones (camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE, dot.case). The interesting part is word detection — the tool splits on spaces, on existing delimiters like underscores, hyphens, dots and slashes, and on lowercase-to-uppercase boundaries inside camelCase words, so userProfileSettings, user_profile_settings and "user profile settings" all normalize to the same word list before being reassembled in the target style.

Conversion happens live in your browser on every keystroke. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored.

When to use it

The classic case is crossing a naming-convention boundary: a JSON API speaks snake_case but your TypeScript models are camelCase; a database column list needs to become JavaScript property names; a config key in SCREAMING_SNAKE needs a kebab-case CLI flag equivalent. Rather than hand-editing each identifier and inevitably fat-fingering one, paste the list and click the target case.

It's equally useful outside code: fixing a headline someone typed in all caps, normalizing product names to Title Case for a catalog, or generating a kebab-case CSS class from a component name. Because the output pane updates as you type, you can also use it as a quick preview while deciding which convention reads best.

Example

Paste user profile settings and click through the cases: camelCase gives userProfileSettings, PascalCase gives UserProfileSettings, snake_case gives user_profile_settings, kebab-case gives user-profile-settings, and CONSTANT_CASE gives USER_PROFILE_SETTINGS. It works in reverse too — paste getUserById and snake_case produces get_user_by_id, because the capital letters inside the identifier are detected as word boundaries. The "Copy link to this result" button shares a URL that reopens the tool with your text and selected case already applied.

Frequently asked questions

How does it know where words begin and end?

It splits on whitespace, on delimiter characters (underscores, hyphens, dots, slashes), and on lowercase-to-uppercase transitions, so both camelCase identifiers and space-separated phrases are recognized. Text with no detectable boundaries is treated as a single word.

What happens to acronyms like API or URL?

Consecutive capitals are kept together as one word, but their casing is normalized to the target style — parseAPIResponse in snake_case becomes parse_apiresponse-style output depending on the boundary pattern, so double-check identifiers containing acronyms before pasting them into code.

Is the conversion reversible?

Between the delimiter-based styles (camel, Pascal, snake, kebab, constant, dot), yes — word boundaries survive the round trip. UPPERCASE and lowercase are lossy: they flatten the original capitalization, so converting back can't recover which letters were capitals.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Conversion is pure string manipulation running in your browser, so internal identifiers, unreleased copy, and anything else you paste never leave your machine.
