Open-Source Performance Management Software (2026)

Performance management software helps organisations set goals, run appraisal cycles, collect feedback and track KPIs. Genuinely open-source options are fewer than for project tracking, and most sit inside HR suites that also handle leave, payroll and recruitment, so this page covers both employee performance and KPI reporting.

We cover five platforms with goal or appraisal features (Frappe HR, Horilla, OrangeHRM, Ever Gauzy, Leantime) and two BI tools (Metabase, Apache Superset) for KPI dashboards over your own data. This slug is thin on dedicated tools, so the angle is broadened deliberately. Feature depth varies and paid editions of some products hold advanced modules; licences were verified on 2026-11-07.

Tools, licences and pricing checked against vendor and repository pages on November 7, 2026.

Open-Source Performance Management Software: FAQ

Quick answers to common questions

Is there fully open-source performance management software?

Few tools are dedicated to it. Frappe HR and Horilla include performance modules in open-source HR suites, and BI tools can cover KPI reporting.

Does OrangeHRM include performance reviews in the free edition?

Verify against the edition you deploy; OrangeHRM sells paid editions with additional modules.

What about OKRs?

Leantime tracks goals with tasks and Frappe HR aligns goals to key result areas. Dedicated OKR tooling is rare in open source.

Why are two BI tools listed?

Because performance management often means KPI tracking. Metabase and Superset build dashboards from your HR, sales or operations data.
