Markdown to HTML Converter with Preview and Source View
Convert Markdown text to HTML with live preview
What is a Markdown to HTML converter?
Markdown is the writing format of README files, wikis, and documentation — but browsers, email tools, and CMS editors ultimately need HTML. This converter renders your Markdown two ways at once: a live preview that shows how it will look, and the raw HTML markup ready to copy into a template, a blog engine, or an email builder.
Conversion runs in your browser as you type. Drafts, internal docs, and unpublished posts never leave your machine.
When to use it
Use the preview mode while writing — a README, a GitHub issue, a blog post — to catch broken links, mis-nested lists, and heading levels before you commit. Switch to HTML mode when a destination doesn't speak Markdown: pasting formatted content into a CMS that only accepts HTML, embedding rendered content in an email template, or checking exactly what markup a Markdown block produces.
It's also a quick way to learn Markdown itself: type a construct on the left, watch what it becomes on the right. Headings, bold and italics, inline code, lists, and blockquotes are all one or two characters of syntax.
Example
Type "# Release Notes" followed by a bulleted list of changes with **bold** feature names and `inline code` for flag names. The preview shows the finished document; the HTML tab shows the <h1>, <ul>, <strong> and <code> elements you'd paste into a site. Use "Copy link to this result" to send a colleague a URL that opens with your exact draft loaded.
How to use the Markdown to HTML Converter with Preview and Source View tool
- 1
Write or paste Markdown
The left panel accepts standard Markdown: headings, emphasis, lists, code, blockquotes, and links.
- 2
Check the live preview
The Preview tab renders the document as readers will see it, updating on every keystroke.
- 3
Copy the HTML
Switch to the HTML tab and copy the generated markup into your CMS, template, or email tool.
Frequently asked questions
Which Markdown syntax is supported?
The core set used by most flavors: headings, bold and italic, inline code, unordered lists, blockquotes, paragraphs and links. The live preview uses a CommonMark-based renderer.
Is my draft uploaded anywhere?
No — rendering happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or transmitted.
Can I convert HTML back to Markdown?
Not with this tool — it converts one way. For the reverse direction, check the other converters in the tools directory.
Why does my table or footnote not render?
Tables, footnotes, and task lists are extended syntax (GitHub Flavored Markdown) rather than core Markdown, so support in the raw-HTML view is limited. The core constructs convert reliably.
