Beacon
Beacon is an MIT-licensed tool from Asymptote Labs that captures session history from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode and 20+ other agent harnesses, normalizes it into one trace format, and turns useful workflows and corrections into reusable knowledge for future agents.
About Beacon
What is Beacon?
An MIT-licensed, local-first memory and trace layer for AI coding agents from Asymptote Labs. It captures sessions from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenCode and 20+ other harnesses, normalizes them into one OpenTelemetry-based format, and turns useful workflows and corrections into knowledge future agents can reuse.
How it works
- Install with Homebrew, a verified .deb/.rpm, or a Windows MSI; history is kept as JSONL on your machine.
- Browse traces in a terminal UI or a local read-only dashboard with sandboxed "lenses".
- Reviewed knowledge reaches agents as Beacon Skills or over MCP (local server or OAuth-based hosted server).
- Also covers Claude.ai/ChatGPT browser chats, cloud agents, CI jobs and a TypeScript SDK.
- Forward the same data to Splunk, Datadog, Elastic, Sentinel, S3, GCS and more.
Pricing
The open-source agent is free. Beacon Cloud has a free plan (50 findings, MCP session search), Pro at $20/month billed annually, Team per seat, and custom Enterprise with risky-action blocking, fleet rollout and SSO.
Company
Asymptote Labs, Inc. (New York), founded by Justin D'Souza and Shukan Shah; raised a $5.5M seed led by Tower Research Ventures in October 2026.
Value & Audience
Value Proposition
Keeps what you teach one coding agent from being lost when you switch tools: one open, local-first record of every agent session that future agents can search and learn from.
Problem Solved
Agent memory and history are locked inside each harness, so knowledge disappears when a session ends or a developer switches tools, and teams have no shared view of what their agents actually did.
