Free Offline Project Management Software (2026)

Offline project management software works without a cloud account: the data lives on your computer or your own server. People look for it when they work with poor connectivity, need to keep project data private, or just want a Gantt chart without a subscription.

The first three tools below are true local tools (GanttProject, Super Productivity, Taskwarrior). Kanboard, Wekan and OpenProject are self-hosted web apps you can run on your own laptop or LAN server, so they work without any vendor cloud but do need a server process. All six are open source with licences read from their repositories on 2026-11-07. ProjectLibre's desktop app is also free, but we could not verify its licence, so it is not listed.

Tools, licences and pricing checked against vendor and repository pages on November 7, 2026.

Free Offline Project Management Software: FAQ

Quick answers to common questions

What is offline project management software?

Software that runs locally or on infrastructure you control, so you can plan projects without depending on a vendor cloud.

Are Kanboard, Wekan and OpenProject truly offline?

They run on your own machine or network with no vendor cloud, but they are web apps that need a server running.

What about ProjectLibre?

ProjectLibre advertises a free desktop app alongside cloud plans from $9.99 per user per month billed annually. We did not verify its licence, so it is not in the list.

Can I share a GanttProject file with a team?

You can export and share files, but it has no built-in real-time collaboration; use OpenProject for that.
